I love my classroom!! This summer I've been redecorating the classroom and setting up the room to create an environment that's conducive to learning. I love my new Disney theme. My classroom is no longer a hodge-podge of colors and designs accumulated over the years. It's uncluttered and clean. There's a place for whole group instruction and a place for small groups. There are tables for independent work and for cooperative work. We have an art center and a listening center and a reading loft. It's cheerful, friendly, fun and whimsical. Cute cartoon characters pop out from every corner, ready to welcome my new little friends.

At Parkview we are promoting a "Growth Mindset."Growth Mindset is the understanding that intelligence and ability are not fixed at birth. These attributes can be developed and improved. Success comes to those with "grit," those who work hard, learn from their mistakes, and don't give up. People with this mindset take on new challenges and persevere in the face of setbacks.

The Disney theme goes right along with the concept of Growth Mindset.  When I think Disney, I think of imagination and creativity. Walt Disney had a great imagination, and he had grit. Here are a couple of quotes from Walt Disney:

"If you can dream it, you can do it.  Always remember that this whole thing was started with a mouse."

"Get a good idea and stay with it.  Dog it, and work at it until it's done right."

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing."

"All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them."

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible."

God's Word tells us that "Nothing is impossible with God."  (Luke 1:37) We don't need  a "little bit of pixie dust"; we only need faith that God will enable us to do what He's called us to do.
Mark  9:23 tells us that "All things are possible to one who believes."   In the book of Mark, we read about a man who brought his son to Jesus for healing.
"But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us," the man said to Jesus.
"IF you can! All things are possible for one who believes," Jesus told him.
"I believe; help my unbelief," the man said.
Of course, Jesus healed the boy.

We have a great God who can do all things.  He's gives us His Holy Spirit to empower us. Nothing is impossible for us if we are living according to His will and are depending on him for strength.

So I see my classroom as a place of endless possibilities.  We'll work hard, we'll have faith, and we'll watch to see what wonders God will do in our class.

Nothing is impossible with God.
