Valentine's Day

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." I John 4:7-8

Graphing Conversation Hearts

I didn't get any green hearts!

But there were lots of pink, orange, and yellow hearts.

Examining our goodies!
I was looking for a good verse to accompany the Valentines pictures, but really, I could include the entire book of First John. Here are a few more verses penned by the apostle John under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit...John who knew Jesus personally, walked with Him closely, and experienced the love of God.

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are!" I John 3:1

"Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love another. No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us."          I John 4:11-12

"We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, 'I love God,' yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.  And He has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother."  I John 4: 19-21

"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." I John 3:18

"And this is his command: to believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us."  I John 3:23

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him."  I John 4:16

Rewarding Teamwork

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

When everyone works together, when all students do their best, when every single person in the class chooses to do what's right, people notice. They compliment the class. Our class received so many compliments that we decided to celebrate.
So for this special occasion, each child brought a favorite stuffed animal to school. (Our class is usually a "No Pets Allowed" place because even pets of the stuffed variety create a distraction, but on this special day, "snugglies" were invited.) The class worked extra hard to convince the teacher that they also deserved a dress-up ----or rather, a "dress-down"---- day.
So everyone wore pajamas, and at noon we took a break to watch a movie.
Mrs. Cathy even provided genuine movie popcorn.
Of course, our motivation for doing good is to please the Lord, but it's nice when other people notice, too. And it's nice to know that we don't have to wait for heaven to receive rewards for our efforts.

Corndogs in the Courtyard---Just for Fun

Sometimes we do things just for fun....like eat corndogs in the courtyard.
We show off our moves.

We eat.
We laugh.

We cheer.

We dance.

We tumble.

We flip.

And by the way, can we show you what we built with geometric shapes?
