"She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21 ESV
I've got the J-O-Y! |
We love singing in chapel. |
We're all red and white, like one big candy cane, waiting in line for the Candy Cane hunt. |
I found my five candy canes. |
The candy canes remind me of Jesus. |
I'm coming down the slide. |
I found a great place to hang my candy canes. |
Look! Antlers! |
Champion of the Candy Cane Hunt. I was so quick to find my candy canes.. |
Friends! |
Which one should I eat first? |
If I asked anyone in the class, "What's the real meaning of Christmas?" they'd respond, "It's Jesus' birthday."
But I'm hoping they'll see Jesus in all the familiar symbols of Christmas.
In the giving of gifts, I hope they think of the Greatest Gift of all time. And I hope they remember all good things come from God.
In the magic and the mystery, I hope they remember the Greatest Miracle.
I hope my little students try to be kind and loving to others as our heavenly Father is kind and loving to us.
And when they see a candy cane, I hope the children will remember the J is for Jesus.
When they eat that candy shaped like a shepherd's staff, I hope they'll think of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
As they look at the stripes, maybe they'll remember Jesus was wounded for our sins, and the Bible says, "by His stripes we are healed."
Maybe they'll remember hearing the Legend of the Candy Cane. And on days when they've been more naughty than nice, they'll recall how Jesus came to wash their sins away.
"And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus." Luke 1:30-31 ESV
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 NKJV

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool. Isaiah 1:18 ESV
