First Annual Thanksgiving Festival

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)

The Early Childhood Thanksgiving Feast is a cherished tradition. So what happens when a pandemic strikes, making it risky to gather in large groups? We remember God wants us to rejoice, pray, and give thanks in all circumstances. We improvise and adjust...and we exchange our indoor feast for an outdoor festival.

After praise and worship in chapel, our tribe assembled in the classroom.

Our braves and princess put on their shirts and headdresses.

Room mothers came to help with crafts.
This chief stayed in character and maintained his serious demeanor.

After our craft time, we met up with the Pilgrims (and a few turkeys and other food) for a feast.

In the tradition of the Pilgrims and Indians, we played games. Unlike the original Thanksgiving, our feast didn't last three days.

We also had a hayride and photos with Pocahontas. We are so thankful for the way God continues to bless us...with families, friends, food, sunshine, and countless other good things.

Operation Christmas Child Boxes

The class was very excited to participate in Operation Christmas Child.
Some of the kids wrote a note to the child who will receive the box.
Today they brought their boxes to the sanctuary to add them to the stack of boxes donated by the rest of the school.

The boxes will be such a blessing to children who otherwise would not receive any gifts for Christmas.

These boys and girls are learning to share the love of Jesus with others!
