Pumpkin Patch

What a beautiful day for a field trip! Early Childhood students enjoyed the sunshine and fall(ish) weather with friends and family.

What does the perfect pumpkin look like? Orange? White? Big? Small? Stem? No stem? Everyone had their own criteria for selecting the perfect pumpkin to bring home.

What was the most exciting activity? Swinging? Ziplining? Driving? Climbing? Everyone had a different opinion.

I'm remined of the book we read in class, The Pumpkin Patch Parable, by Liz Curtis Higgs. The farmer grows a variety of pumpkins. At the right time, he choses a pumpkin from his garden. He transforms his creation by cleaning out all the yucky stuff,  putting a smile on its face, and placing his light inside.

In the same way, God transforms our lives by cleaning out all our yucky stuff and making us a new creation. Then He puts His light inside of us so that we can be a light to those around us.

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. " Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
