Yes, we admit it. The 101st Day of School Party was actually a secret
plot designed by the teachers to make the students learn math (and to
motivate them to keep on working hard for the rest of the school year.)
The kids thought they were having fun, but actually they were counting
and writing to 100 (and 1) by ones, fives, and tens. They were subtly
tricked into practicing addition, subtraction, and place value. Without knowing it, they were learning concepts such as "before and after," "one more" and "one less," and "one dollar and one cent." Hey, a
teacher's gotta do whatever it takes.
