We're All a Little Grinchy Sometimes

There’s a little bit of Grinch in all of us sometimes…

Your living room’s cluttered with TOYS, TOYS, TOYS, TOYS.
You crave peace and quiet. You get NOISE, NOISE, NOISE.
The traffic is terrible…. Car after car!
The line at the checkout! It goes on so far!
Your children have wishes you’re bound to fulfill.
You dread January when you’ll get the bill.
Your friends all post pictures. Their kids look so sweet.
Are they always happy and perfectly neat?
Don’t other kids grumble and argue and pout?
Yours certainly know how to talk back and shout.

You feel a bit Grinchy this time in December.
But here is some wisdom: it’s wise to remember.
On the day that the Grinch’s small heart grew and grew
He discovered real joy, for he finally knew:
“Maybe Christmas, he thought doesn’t come from a store.
Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
And deep down, our kids know it’s Jesus’s birth.
It’s all about Him and His coming to earth.
In their wildest excitement they know through and through
That Christ is our Savior. He loves me and you.

Amidst all the clutter and things left undone,
Snuggle your children.  Take time to have fun.
Tell them the story of Jesus again.
Teach them about peace and goodwill towards men.
